But one of the greater advantages of a ball valve is that it seals better than a butterfly valve. Ball valves can withstand high pressures. However, the physical properties of PTFE, including a high coefficient of expansion, sensitivity to cold flow and poor thermal conductivity, require that valve seat designs must be designed around these properties. Therefore, when the sealing material hardens, the reliability of the seal is compromised. In addition, Teflon has a lower temperature rating and can only be used below 180°C. Above this temperature, the sealing material will age. If used for a long time, generally only 120℃ is not used.

  Disadvantages of electric butterfly valve:

  1. The flow control range is not large and the flow control reliability is not high. For example, when the butterfly valve is opened to 30%, the flow rate is close to 95%.

  2. Due to the limitations of butterfly valve structure and sealing materials, it is not suitable for high temperature and high pressure pipeline systems. The general working temperature is below 300℃ and below PN40 (6-40). This is also because the structure of butterfly valves has a shorter life than ball valves.

  3. Compared with ball valves and globe valves, their sealing performance is poor and they are suitable for places with low sealing requirements.
